Nuclear "FALLOUT" HEADED WEST?

On my post of March 13, I said that according to Retuers, the United States was relatively safe from any fallout. Well it seems that a lot has changed since that last post. Although the mainstream media and government officials continue to downplay potential dangers to our country, a number of experts are beginning to come out with warnings that say otherwise.  The situation in Japan seems to be getting worse by the minute. News is now coming across that a second nuclear reactor may now be in jeopardy of melting down. The Japanese government has setup a so called “danger zone” of around 26 miles and began distributing iodide pills to the public. While they continue to claim that the public is in no danger, this morning they seemed to contradict themselves by telling the public to put their clothing in plastic bags before entering their homes. This morning while I was attempting to enjoy my morning coffee, Fox News was reporting two additional explosions at one of the nuclear reactors, In addition it was being reported that a facility that is used to store the nuclear rodsw was on fire. What else can go wrong for the Japanese Government, the holder of the worlds number 3 economy in the world. The very nation that holds so much of our debt.  I am trying to find some good in all of this, however I have not found anything.  To be perfectly honest with you I my sick to my stomach, it makes me feel so bad for the people of Japan.

So should Americans worry about possible nuclear fallout reaching the west coast?  The government continues to say that the public is not in danger, but a growing number of experts are suggesting that a total reactor meltdown would defiantly affect the west coast. Well here is some late information that should interest you.  The New York Times is reporting that the Pentagon will soon announce that the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan passed through a radioactive cloud while in route to Japan. This confirms that the radioactive materials are indeed blowing west towards the United States. Officials are saying that the crew was exposed to over a month’s worth of radiation in under an hour. The report also says that American helicopters that were flying 60 miles north of the site were returning flying fully coated with particulate radiation. The helicopters had to be decontaminated and washed. So the answer in my opinion is yes, we are going to be affected, get prepared now, not later.

So until nect time,  God Bless and God Bless America

Japan - FUKUSHIMA REACTOR " NO FALLOUT EXPEXTED IN USA"

(I heard today, 15 March, 2011 that the map I have posted on the left was a hoax that was posted by someone. You be the judge)

11March 2011, Japan was rocked to its very foundation with an 8.9 magnitude earthquake followed 30 minutes later by a 33 foot wall of water generated by a tsunami wiping out everything in its path. Not knowing that in just a few days, Japan and its general population will be fighting for survival with the explosion of  the Fukushima nuclear power plant, and the additional troubles with the other plants. Unfortunately up to 190 people have been exposed to radiation, and 210,000 have been evacuated from the area. The United States has been sending cooling agents to assist in cooling the fueling rods to prevent a complete core melt down. However, some good news, according to Reuters- "the United States is not expected to experience "any harmful levels" of radiation from Japan's earthquake-hit nuclear power reactors, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said on Sunday.
All the available information indicates weather conditions have taken the small releases from the Fukushima reactors out to sea away from the population," the NRC said in a statement.  Given the thousands of miles between the two countries, Hawaii, Alaska, the U.S. Territories and the U.S. West Coast are not expected to experience any harmful levels of radioactivity."

As I am sitting here, sipping on a cold glass of water, in my office, knowing that all of my family and friends are safe and sound, I can not begin to comprehend the scope of the disaster that has hit Japan and its people. I can see the pictures, watch the news reports and UNDERSTAND how terrible the situation is. However without being there no one will get a true picture of the devastation unless you are there. Talk about  feeling inadequate, there is absolutely nothing I can do, except watch and offer prays for our allies and good friends. I know and expect that our government will do all that is humanly possible to assist Japan during their time of need, as I know that the Japanese people will do all in their power to help us.

With this disaster, I wonder how long it is going to take before the "Fallout" on how safe nuclear reactors are. Apparently they are safe, excluding the Chernobyl accident in Russia and now this incident in Japan. However, you are talking about a 8.9 magnitude earth shaker. Not much is going to stand up to that. A Chernobyl style meltdown is highly unlikely according to information that is being reported. Hopefully our nuclear regulatory commission is all over this and monitoring any fallout that may head this way, all of course is dependent on developing weather patterns of course. We just need to hope and pray for the best and expect the worse.

There is just not much to add to what is happening, we have to continue to offer our prayers for the people of Japan.

Until Next time, I will see you at the crossroads......God Bless You and God Bless America, and May God Bless Japan....
