A little time away.

I kept wondering why Shady hadn't posted anything lately.  The other day I was visiting my Condo when I saw he and his lovely bride motor by on their house boat.  I took a picture and yelled a hardy "Ahoy mate", but I guess the sound of that big motor drowned me out.  I'm sure he'll be rested and ready to blog soon.

Just Getting Up.

Hey Shady!  Get up!  Time to get out of bed and write something for your blog.  Your public awaits you.

        Sunrise

Epiphany?

No, just the rising sun
blasting through the frosted
glass on the east wall.

A laser.

Eyes closed,
I can feel it.

No fast moves.

Aroma of dark elixir.

Quiet electric hum
inside insulated walls.

A favorite time
that does not last.

Smile, life is life.

Hey Shady, it's Sunday morning.  How about a little smile?

I know how you love poetry, so I thought I would leave you something to read besides the Daily Error.  Hope you enjoy it.

Little Pleasures

We plan.
We work.
We save.
We dream.
But, life is seldom as it seems.

A germ,
a gene,
a wayward act
can throw perceptions off their track.

A hug,
a kiss,
a tender word
can let us know we’re not alone.

Life is life.
So, on we go
not so sure of what’s in store.
But, fearing less that great unknown.
Enjoying “little” more.

Looking for Shady.

Hey Shady, where are you man?  Pappy here just checking all our hideouts for news and secret information.  I know you probably don't recognize me in this hat, but I bought it on a trip to Alaska so I wouldn't look like a tourist.  Is it working?  Here's a poem I wrote about the trip when I got home.

Lonely Maiden

Siren,
temptress,
rarely seen
except in silhouette.

Your calls are heard
across the frigid sea.

The summer light
shines on your wrinkled face.

We are not turned away,
but drawn.

Those who stay, cling to you
with tenuous
but determined grip.

Some persevere,
others wane.
Many look and sail away.

Haunted by your charms.

Alaska.
